Mizumaru Anzai is an illustrator born in Tokyo in 1942. He graduated from the Department if Fine Art of Nihon University Collage of Art. After working as and art director for Dentsu, a design studio ADAC in New York and Heibonsha, he became a freelance designer. He was awarded The Asahi Advertising Award, The Mainichi Advertising Design Award, The Author of The Year Award of The 1987 JAGDA Exhibition and the 1988 Readers Award of the Kinema Junpo. He produced many picture books, comic books, essays and novels. He was a member of Tokyo Illustrators Society (TIS), Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), The Japan Writers’ Association, The Japan P.E.N. Club, as well as the president of Japan Snowdome Association and Curried Rice Association.
