In 1890, a company by the name of Gummi-Schneiders was founded in an Austrian city Bregenz, being the first store in the country to specialize in rubber products. Already in 1895 when the headquarters were moved to Vienna, the company expanded its activities also to Budapest and Prague. 1935 was a significant year for Schneiders as its own bag factory was established where the company started producing the patented bag “Herzerl” which was a great success. By 1960, Schneiders had become the No.1 bag and suitcase manufacturer in Austria and No.3 in Europe. The success of 1970s showed that Schneiders had chosen the right path. Technologies were constantly improved, materials of the highest quality were used and contemporary trends were followed. Because of the global changes backpacks became very important in 1980s, as a result of which Walker, a new range for young people was introduced in 1989. In a short time Walker acquired a cult status. In 1990s, Schneiders became the leading manufacturer of bags for children and young people. Technical innovation, high-quality materials, unique design, durability and comfort have become the trademarks of Schneiders.
